OTHER LIFE

I like the peaceful atmosphere in the TEMPLES and try to capture MONKS in many positions.
THE TEMPLES
Thailand is home to thousands of temples, known as "wats," which serve as significant cultural, religious, and historical landmarks. These temples are central to Buddhist practices and often feature stunning architecture, intricate carvings, and sacred relics. Wat Phra Kaew in Bangkok, located within the Grand Palace, is one of the most revered temples, housing the Emerald Buddha. Wat Arun, also in Bangkok, is famous for its riverside location and striking prang tower adorned with colorful porcelain.
Wat Pho, known for its massive reclining Buddha statue, is also a center for traditional Thai massage. Outside the capital, Wat Phra That Doi Suthep in Chiang Mai offers breathtaking views and is a sacred pilgrimage site. In Ayutthaya, the ruins of Wat Mahathat are iconic, especially the Buddha head entwined in tree roots. Temples in Thailand are not only places of worship but also centers for meditation, education, and cultural preservation, attracting both devotees and tourists seeking spiritual and architectural beauty. Visitors are expected to dress modestly, remove their shoes before entering, and show respect by maintaining a quiet and reverent demeanor.
MONKS
Monks in Thailand play a vital role in preserving Buddhist traditions and guiding com- munities in spiritual and moral matters. Ordination, either temporary or lifelong, is a common practice for Thai men, with many spending time as monks to gain merit for themselves and their families. Monks follow strict rules, including celibacy, simplicity, and detachment from material possessions. They rely on alms from laypeople for food and essentials, reinforcing the Buddhist principle of interdependence.
SWITZERLAND
Switzerland is a landlocked country in Central Europe known for its political neutrality, high quality of life, and stunning natural landscapes. It is famous for the Swiss Alps, picturesque lakes, and charming cities like Zurich, Geneva, and Lucerne. The country has a strong economy driven by finance, pharmaceuticals, precision engineering, and tourism. Switzerland is home to global organizations such as the United Nations and the Red Cross. It has four official languages-German, French, Italian, and Romansh-reflecting its diverse cultural heritage. Swiss cuisine features specialties like fondue, raclette, and high-quality chocolates. The country is also known for its efficient public transportation system, high safety standards, and commitment to environmental sustainability.
Zurich is Switzerland's largest city and a major financial, cultural, and economic hub. Located on the shores of Lake Zurich and surrounded by picturesque mountains, it offers a blend of natural beauty and urban sophistication.
