“I still remember the first time I held a camera as a present. I was 12…”
My name is Walter, and I am a storyteller with a camera. It's hard for me to describe myself in words. My photos in all their kind and colours can describe my personality better than any words ever could. Everyone looks at the same world, but everyone sees something different.
My love for photography started in my youth when I tried to freeze the beauty of nature. Later I made photos and a few videos from my countless travels in the world. I especially like to take pictures from country sides and sunsets as well as shots from outstanding objects not everyone sees. My photos from humans shall show how hard some work but also its funny side.

Introduction / Discover story
In the years 2000 till 2007 I helped supporting schools in the Philippines and made in this time many photos from children, most of them full of joy.
I like the peaceful atmosphere in the temples and try to capture monks in many positions.
Since end of 2009 I live in Jomtien-Pattaya where I often take photos from a not well-known side of this famous city.

Description by my daughter, who also takes very good pictures:
Through his photography, I see the artist in my father. I see his view of things, his sense of aesthetics and his penchant for perfection to give a photo just the right angle and frame. I was able to learn many tricks from my father, and I have a lot of fun going photo hunting with him. We are then like Little Red Riding Hood in the forest and go from one beautiful flower to the next, even more beautiful flower and so on, to then devote all our attention to a particularly special scenery and capture every view of it. Of course, to get these different angles, you must position yourself differently and so it often happened that we crouched on the ground or took up position in a rather daring place to take a very special snapshot. In these moments, you can feel the artist becoming daring for his work. And when we are in such a flow, we also forget the time, so that we have already come into uncomfortable situations because it suddenly gets dark in Asia from one moment to the next. But Golden Hour is inconveniently just before dawn... and there is no way we can miss it.
I wish everyone who looks at my father's photos a lot of fun and imagining how this photo came about.

Description by my daughter
My idol
I was glad when I met in January 2010 in Nong Nooch Garden Worachat Sodsri, one of the very best photographers in Thailand. Soon later he invited me to go with him and other photographers to the Phu Hin Rong Kla National Park for a weekend. I still remember as it was yesterday when we went early morning through the fog to capture small plants and saw the sea of fog rising. I learned a lot from him. Worachat gave me the booklet “Art of life” with his best photos and recently an enlarged photo with frame which brought him a special prize.

Special chances
Two times, on 20. July 1978 and on 6. April 1980, I saw the Thai King Bhumibol in Wat Phra Kaeo in Bangkok and could make pictures from him and some of his family.

On 30. December 2008 I was invited at the opening ceremony of a hospital in Siem Reap by the Swiss doctor Beat Richner where the Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni took place, and I was also able to make some photos.

From 2000 I visited the Philippines every year till 2010 and helped organizations to improve the situation for schoolchildren. From 2000 till 2007 I made a yearly visit for two weeks each in Koh Samui in Thailand to shorten the cold wintertime in Switzerland.
In 2009 I was in Cambodia and end of that year I retired with the age of 57 years in Thailand. In my new home country, I visited till today with my car nearly every province. From 2010 till 2019 I was fifteen times in Laos. There I drove my car on mostly bad roads and reached the border to China, Vietnam and Cambodia.

In 2019 I was in Singapore and 2022 another time as I like this multicultural, modern and well-organized clean city very much.
